I recieve this letter from a very happy man
Hello,
I wanted to take a
little time to tell you folks a little story about two of your members this weekend. I have a home on Cedar Creek Lake and
was there this weekend doing a little work and playing a bit. I was hot and decided to take the boat out on the lake for a
little cooling off and maybe catch a few fish. When I went to start the boat I found that my cranking battery was a little
low and I had to put a charge on it before it would crank. Now I knew better than to go running all over the lake because
my luck is lets just say "if it can happen it will happen to me". I idled around a bit and trolled real close to
the cove that I live in and after a few minutes I made my way back close to my boat dock and then I turned
off the motor just to see if it would start again and it did so now I was feeling confident that I could venture
out to one of my spots to try to catch a few fish so I made my way a couple miles to the other side of the lake
close to the Caney Creek Bridge. When I pulled back the throttle to slow the speed of the boat down the
motor died and guess what? It would not restart. I looked around and saw no-one insight except jet skiers. I pulled out my
oar and started paddling to the nearest boat dock hoping that I would find someone there that could give me a jump. after
about 30 minutes of paddling I was within 100 yards of a boat dock and I saw a couple of fishermen fishing their way out of
a cove, they spotted me right away and stopped fishing right then and there to come over and offer assistance. I explained
that I was just trying to get to the nearest boat dock but they offered to take the time out of their Tournament fishing day
to lend me a hand and tow me all the way back to my home. These two men were Stell Gillespie and Either John or Bobby Smith.
I want to say Thank You again to these gentlemen for taking the time to help someone out. I hope that you would recognize
them at your next meeting and please let them know that if ever they are on Cedar Creek Lake and need anything they know where
my home is and I would also like to give them my cell number. If these two men are an indicator of the caliber of folks
in your club then I have to say that you have a great group of folks.
